TDX Stage 3 Ball-Bearing Turbo – LandCruiser VDJ76/78/79 1VD-FTV
Take your Toyota LandCruiser 70 Series performance package further with the TDX by GCG Stage 3 ball-bearing turbocharger.
The GCG5867R is a direct-fit GTA23 replacement developed for modified 4.5L 1VD-FTV engines requiring increased compressor and turbine flow without converting to a custom high-mount turbo system.
Its dual 8 mm ceramic ball-bearing core improves transient response between gear changes and when accelerating under load. GCG reports boost response approximately 500 rpm earlier than comparable journal-bearing configurations.
The upgraded 11+0 billet compressor wheel measures 67/50 mm, compared with the factory 59.45/44.5 mm wheel. On the exhaust side, the ceramic-coated turbine housing increases from the factory 0.64 A/R to 0.72 A/R and incorporates a larger turbine wheel with an upgraded blade design.

Important Fitment Information

Installation and Supporting Modifications
This is a Stage 3 performance turbocharger and requires professional installation and custom ECU calibration.
Fullsoot 4x4 recommends assessing the following supporting components:
- Airbox, snorkel and intake plumbing
- MAF housing size and airflow calibration
- Intercooler and charge-air plumbing
- Exhaust system and exhaust backpressure
- Injector and fuel-system capacity
- Clutch and driveline capacity
- Exhaust-gas temperature and boost control
The engine oil and filter must be replaced during installation. The turbocharger oil supply and drain, intake system, intercooler and exhaust system must also be inspected for contamination, restrictions or leaks.
Operating Limits
GCG publishes a working boost range of approximately 28–30 psi and a maximum compressor speed of 160,000 rpm. These figures are operating limits rather than universal tuning targets.
The final boost target must be determined from turbocharger speed, airflow, exhaust backpressure, exhaust-gas temperature, fuelling and the vehicle’s intended use. Turbocharger overspeed or operation outside the manufacturer’s limits may affect warranty coverage.
Actual power and torque will depend on the engine condition, ECU calibration, fuel system and supporting modifications.
